About Solonex Tablet

Solonex Tablet is used to treat and prevent tuberculosis (TB). Solonex Tablet is used in combination with other anti-tuberculosis agents. Tuberculosis is an infectious bacterial disease that mainly affects the lungs, but it can also spread to other body parts such as the kidneys, brain, spine, and bone marrow. Solonex Tablet does not work against infections caused by the virus.

Solonex Tablet contains isoniazid, an antibiotic that works by preventing bacteria from producing mycolic acids, an enzyme required for cell wall formation (protective coating). As a result of the disturbance in their metabolism, bacteria that lack a cell wall die and burst. Thus, Solonex Tablet inhibits the spread of infection by acting against the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which causes tuberculosis.

Use Solonex Tablet as prescribed. Use Solonex Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for your child based on his/her medical condition. Sometimes, Solonex Tablet may cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, constipation, difficulty passing urine, numbness, or tingling in the feet or hands. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if any of these side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If your child is allergic to Isoniazid, please inform your doctor. It is important that you complete the entire course of Solonex Tablet as prescribed by the doctor, even if your child feels better after taking a few doses, because stopping the drug abruptly may not kill bacteria and may result in a resurgence of tuberculosis.

Solonex Tablet is used in the treatment of Tuberculosis (TB). The detailed uses of Solonex Tablet are as follows:

Treatment of Active Tuberculosis (TB): Solonex Tablet is a first-line antitubercular agent used in combination with other drugs to treat active TB infections in children. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of mycolic acids, essential components of the bacterial cell wall, thereby killing Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
Latent Tuberculosis Infection (LTBI): Solonex Tablet is used as a monotherapy for children who have been exposed to TB but do not show active symptoms. It helps prevent the progression from latent infection to active disease, especially in high-risk paediatric populations.
Tuberculous Meningitis: Solonex Tablet is included in combination regimens for treating TB meningitis in children. It penetrates the cerebrospinal fluid effectively, making it valuable in managing central nervous system TB infections.
Prophylaxis in High-Risk Children: Solonex Tablet may be used as a preventive measure for children who are immunocompromised or have been in close contact with TB-positive individuals, reducing the risk of developing active TB.
